Russia’s first lunar mission in 50 years also successfully completed its first phase. The spacecraft was launched on Friday. The Luna-25 mission is scheduled to reach the moon on August 23.

All three probes of India’s lunar mission Chandrayaan will land on the moon on the same day.

Luna-25 was launched from the Vostoshny Cosmodrome at 2:00 PM Moscow time. The probe will reach the Moon’s orbit in five days. It will then spend three to seven days selecting the right spot before landing at the moon’s south pole.

This is Russia’s first mission to the moon since 1976. The lunar mission was carried out in 1976 when it was the former Soviet Union. Before this, only three countries have successfully completed a lunar mission.

They are the Soviet Union, the US, and China. At present, Indian and Russian probes are in lunar orbit. The scientific world is curious as to which country’s probe will be the first to reach the moon.

The Chandrayaan 3 probe was launched on July 14 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. Russia is on the move to reach the moon before the completion of India’s lunar mission.
