Pak is a pet fish that resembles a piranha. Although native to South America, Pak is a popular breed around the world. Pacu is the oldest word in the Tupi-Gorani language of South America. The word means ‘fast eaters’.

The most commonly grown variety in Kerala is the Red Bellied Pak. The names of the place are Nutter and Red Belly. But for Hindi people, they are rupchand.

The pack features flattened teeth in the mouth. They are similar to human teeth.
