Clean Energy

The location is the 4,000-acre bottom of dry Ivanpah Lake in California’s Mojave Desert. Three hundred thousand movable mirrors,

curved around the three towers, capture energy from the sun, reflect it, and vaporize the water at the top of the tower at temperatures above 500 degrees Celsius. This steam is used to spin the lower turbine to generate electricity.

The 377 MW electricity generated from this, one of the largest solar thermal power plants in the world, powers 140,000 homes and institutions. Not enough, it provides the cleanest energy that does not create waste.
