Three tons of wreckage of a Chinese rocket fell; Large crater on the moon

The wreckage of a three-ton Chinese rocket that had been hovering in space for seven years landed on the Moon. Following the incident, a 65-foot-wide crater formed on the lunar surface. The wreckage fell on the moon around 6 a.m. Indian time on Friday. The space debris was first reported by astronaut Bill Gray as part of Project Pluto.

Gray first reported that Elon Musk’s Space X was the remains of a rocket. It was later confirmed to be the wreckage of a Chinese rocket. NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter could not directly record the incident.

John Keller, deputy project scientist at the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Mission, said the rocket would conduct a detailed study of the crater.

Launched in 2014 as part of the Chinese Space Agency’s lunar exploration program, the Changi 5-T1 booster’s 2014-065B is now out of control and orbiting the Moon and Earth.
