The Bailong Elevator, also known as the Hundred Dragons Elevator, is the tallest outdoor elevator in the world. Located in Zhangjiajie, China, this engineering marvel stands at a height of 1,070 feet and offers several unique features.
The elevator is a double-deck lift made of glass, which means it has two cabins stacked on top of each other, allowing for higher passenger capacity.
Known for its high loading capacity, it is also the fastest passenger elevator of its kind, taking just 1 minute and 32 seconds to travel from the bottom to the top. The Bailong Elevator serves approximately 18,000 passengers daily, showcasing its efficiency and popularity.
The lower 505 feet of the elevator is embedded into the side of a mountain, while the upper 565 feet is supported by a steel derrick structure.
This combination of natural and engineered components not only provides stunning views but also highlights the remarkable construction techniques used to build such a towering structure in a challenging environment.
