What is the science behind cryogenic sleep? How many years can it last? Or is it only in movies now ?

Hibernation is just a biological process. Hibernation can be defined as the struggle to live with the use of energy for a short period of time in the event of starvation or loss of living conditions.
Many of the fish around us hibernate in underground chambers during the summer.

During this time the body will do all it can to reduce energy consumption. One type of turtle hibernates for about 5 years. During that time they reduce the heart rate to 5-10 beats per minute.

But there is currently no human-controlled cryogenic sleep / hibernation of the kind seen in the film. It’s just that hibernation is exaggerated and brought to a sci-fi level
