Sagittarius A: The mysterious crater in the middle of the Milky Way

One of the recipients of the 2020 Nobel Prize is Andrea Guess, an American researcher. Andrea and her colleague Renard Gazelle won the award for discovering an unknown object in the center of the Milky Way galaxy, which includes our Earth. That unknown object was nothing else. A black hole or black hole.

Sagittarius A
Our Milky Way galaxy is made up of many stars. It has tens of billions of stars. We know the size of the Milky Way when we know that the Sun is only one of these stars.

In 1931, the famous scientist Karl Jansky discovered that a signal was coming from the center of the Milky Way. Jansky did not understand what the incident was or what object was at the center. In 1982, scientist Robert Brown began calling the region Sagittarius A. Brown also found that about two hundred stars orbited the object. With the discovery of a mass of 43 million Suns in the region, Sagittarius A became a topic of discussion among scientists.

It was then that Andrea and Renard began their research. They questioned whether this part was a black hole. Finally, in July 2018, the unknown region Sagittarius A proved to be a black hole. Not only this, but it later became apparent that there were gigantic black holes in the center of many galaxies around the world.
