Interplanetary Transport Network (ITN) –

The Interplanetary Transport Network (ITN) is a collection of gravitational travel paths. Man-made objects traveling along this path can reach a specific destination with the least amount of energy. Space agencies, such as NASA, often use planetary gravitational fields to propel spacecraft to their final destination.

It was not until the late 1970s that mission designers began to think of a highway like this. This ribbon-like interplanetary super highway is designed to detect the gravitational field of planets, moons, and stars in the Solar System.

In the distant future, as we travel from Earth to other planets, we can take advantage of these highways to reach our destination in the shortest amount of time and with the least amount of energy.
