Why do moths fly to night bulbs and other light sources?

The dangerous attraction between night bulbs and moths is as complex as Romeo’s intense passion for Juliet. Moths that fly into the light are easily eaten by other creatures, such as lizards, and can die from extreme heat. Not only light bulbs but also butterflies in the fire and lanterns fly in the same direction and die in the fire.

Their judgment is related to their own evolution. For millions of years, the moon, or moon, has been the greatest source of light for those who wake up in the dark and search for food. Moths have a navigation system designed to control the flight of the moon / moon, just like sailors who wander in the ocean and eventually rely on the polar star to locate the land and return. This is called transverse orientation.

Everything that took off and came back depended only on the light of the moon. Poor night butterflies have become a total confusion in many light sources as bright light bulbs and other light sources have taken their place on earth. It is still perceived as moonlight, and is mostly aimed at white light flies.

If there is more than one bulb then even more confusion they will start to fly towards the bulbs side by side and they all think that they are their own guided moon. They go down in search of food and every fate that is food.
