What is a neutrino?

We know that an atom is made up of tiny particles called electrons, protons and neutrons. The discovery that protons and neutrons are made up of smaller atoms is crucial in the history of modern physics. The physical model of these is known as the Standard Model of Particle Physics. The standard model states that 61 atoms are the basis of the matter and energy around us. Scientists have been able to find all of these. These include neutrinos. There are 3 types of neutrinos. Electron neutrino, muon neutrino, tau neutrino. And 3 antineutrinos.

Unlike electrons, neutrinos have no charge. Has a very small mass. It is not possible to quantify this. Which means it is such a light mass. This must be because they travel very close to the speed of light. Another feature of neutrinos is that they transform during this rapid travel. That is, the electron will ‘disguise’ itself as a neutron or a muon neutrino or a tau neutrino. This is called neutrino oscillation. Neutrino oscillation is also the main reason why neutrinos ‘sink’ in a way that modern physics still does not understand.
