King of the moons

Ganymede can be described as the king of the moons. This is because it is the largest of the moons in the Solar System. What’s more, it’s larger than the smallest planet, Mercury.

But since it does not orbit the sun, it does not have the glory of a planet. Ganymede, Jupiter’s seventh moon, is the only moon in the Solar System to have its own magnetic field. There is much more water here than there is on earth. Ganymede was discovered by Galileo on January 7, 1610.
