DART is complete success!

The mission to hit and divert an asteroid for the first time in history is a success. The first step was to get close to the asteroid and crash into it (Kinetic Impact). NASA’s DART mission touched down eight hours ago.

As predicted, the asteroid began to appear on the vehicle camera around 4 am today. After ceasing control from Earth, the 600-kg spacecraft would crash into the asteroid at high speed using autonomous instruments.

But he didn’t forget to send the footage to Earth until the last moment. Those scenes are in the post. The total cost of this is 320 million USD
